Hi and welcome I'm Helen and here you will find spoonfuls of my different ongoing cooking related adventures. Some AHAH moments which could change your life (OR NOT), Parenting stories, Dos and Donts ( MOSTLY DONTS – I'm winging it so I don't really know what I'm doing), cooking recipes you MUST try and some u should think twice about before attempting (THINGS DON'T ALWAYS WORK OUT THE WAY YOU IMAGINE THEM). Ways to sneak some healthy stuff in your kids food (Hopefully Unnoticed) And of course there will be plenty of ‘ADULT’ drinks, (NOT REALLY- I just about sniff a glass of wine and I'm tipsy but hay ill give it a shot anyway – Its suppose to relieve stress). So not limited to the above in any way you may find WHATEVA else and anything frustrating in my life that no body else wants to here.
MEET THE CREW ME: My name is Helen and I was born in Australia and now living in Cyprus an island in the Mediterranean. I’m a Qualified Certified Accountant and worked in the corporate world for 20 years only to figure I hated it. (Talk about taking my time to figure that one out) As I loved cooking people often told me to follow my dream. Not sure what my dream was or what I was thinking, Fear and resistance to change being second nature to me I somehow found the courage to quit my job anyway, and start my own cake business. ( HUGE risky move I know)Went on to study mindful eating and become a professional plant based chef ….Although not exactly vegan myself I loved the colors and challenge this cuisine has and the fact that Hubby is vegan, just made sense for me to learn this , since I was already a pro in the conventional kitchen :) -I’ve heard modesty will get you everywhere) I went on to develop a range of cakes, and other products which are healthy, gluten , dairy and sugar free, which you can view under products. So on a quest to getting my kids in on the healthy eating as well I encouraged them to make a mess in the kitchen and prepare delicious plant based meals. They enjoyed it soo much they wanted to share it with the world and inspire other kids , so that was the start of our Utube channel. I also write a food blog, with many of the posts inspired by my two lovely angels and we have an archive of recipes which is constantly updated with our new creations. So for whateva reason your visiting us -Welcome and happy your here. P.S. Do not expect sophisticated English or proper grammar in this blog, Whilst studying for my O’levels my English teacher made a comment that I’d peppered my essay with unnecessary commas and full stops, and that she didn’t expect that I would get anything more than a C in my exams. ( Talk about encouragement!!) WHATEVA !!! I love using lots of unnecessary full stops , Explanation marks , and capital letters – It helps me get my point across. AND just for the record I got an A in my O’ levels. HUBBY – Also answers to the names of Petro, babes and sweetie Pie. 1.85 cm , thin and bold. (In my early years I vowed id never date let alone marry a bold guy!!) Although a huge junkie and meat eater in his early days, now follows a healthy plant based diet and is an environmental activist. Believes in gnomes and you may often find him out in the garden talking to the Elementals. May come across as a space alien from some galactic planet that is Not Earth. If it was up to him we would be living in some remote Forrest butt naked!! DAUGHTER- Goes by the name of Elissa, is currently 7 years old, Super thin but can devour a pizza, chips, chocolate cake and still have room for ice-cream. AND will tell you shes Hungry half an hour later. LOVES cooking (Surprise , Surprise),Partially brainwashed by Dad about becoming a vegan ( If it looks like meat she wont eat it, but hay ham and turkey slices are not meat are they?? SON: Goes by the calling of Evan and is 3 years old. Has a head of tight springy curls and dark chocolate colored eyes that you can just drown in. Loves animals , especially cows, goats and sheep. Super cute and cuddly and will often tell you he loves you TOOO much , to which you just wont to melt , However he will also tell you how he loves the cows TOOO much whilst indulging in a big fat beef burger. UNEXPECTED VISITORS: From time to time I may mention some unexpected visitors ( Dogs , Cats , Petrocks) that show up on our door step refusing to leave. They can stay with us for a duration of 1 week to 4 months depending on how long it takes for us to find them a home. This is an extremely difficult time for us as Evan is scared to death of these visitors and will not go outside and will scream every time any member of the household approaches a door to leave the house. So to put it mildly we are under house arrest , our whole life comes to a halt and hubby is frantically trying to find them a home so we can go outside once again. |
